Berkshire Hathaway: Your Relationship Realtors

After a successful and rewarding career of 25 years as an English teacher, Sherry decided to take an early retirement in May of 2013 and to start on her next venture. Although she knew she’d miss teaching, she knew it was time for a change. When talking to a friend who was in real estate, the friend suggested that Sherry give it a try. Why not?! A few months later, in January of 2014, Sherry earned her real estate license and it’s been history ever since! Sherry is grateful that real estate has become her career.

When respected colleague and friend, Austin Nielson reached out to Sherry with the opportunity to be an agent at Berkshire Hathaway, she of course was excited, but Sherry’s decision to make the move wasn’t an easy one. When asked why she decided to make the move, she stated, “It wasn’t an easy decision because I had 8 great years with Keller Williams. I’ll miss my friends there, but as life teaches us, sometimes we just know when it’s time for a change.” Sherry also said, “...It’s fun and exciting to make changes in life. People shouldn’t be afraid of change. It keeps us on our toes and growing. I am loving my new home at Berkshire and how we work as a team for our clients.” Sherry is excited and hopeful for her future here at Berkshire Hathaway!

While exchanging brokerages, Sherry’s excellent service will remain the same. When asked what she hopes to offer to her clients while at Berkshire Hathaway, she stated, “I plan to offer the same great service I have provided for 8 years. My main focus is always on the clients and to make their buying/selling experience as easy and stress-free as possible.” One way she does this is by clear and frequent communication and placing an emphasis on being proactive in preparing them for what is ahead. Another way Sherry will continue her excellent service is by working hand-in-hand with her “bright and talented” assistant. Sherry said, “...She will be a great benefit to my clients and myself, especially at those times when I am really busy.” Here at Berkshire Hathaway, there are great colleagues and a solid business model, and they will work as a team to provide our clients a tremendous experience.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices is a real estate brokerage franchise designed for today’s real estate market, working with first-time homebuyers all the way to high-end residential markets. The company was founded in 1998, with its home base in Omaha, Nebraska. South Dakota is the last state in the United States to open a Berkshire Hathaway franchise. The core values, as stated by Berkshire Hathaway CEO Christy Budnick, are trust, integrity, stability, and longevity. It’s those core values that real estate professional/broker Austin Nielsen hopes to implement here in Sioux Falls.

Austin Nielsen, licensed real estate broker and owner of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Sioux Falls, thinks that his beliefs align with the core values of Berkshire Hathaway, stating, “Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices aligns with my belief of helping people achieve their goals faster than they would in our absence... It was evident that these beliefs seamlessly aligned with the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices brand and work with a real estate brokerage network built for a new era in residential real estate.” Austin has over 13 years of real estate experience, and just like Sherry, is prepared to work to provide clients with a tremendous experience.

The Sioux Falls office plans to open two additional locations within the next few years to further represent the brand’s footprint in South Dakota and continue the team’s reputation for being known as “relationship realtors.” Here at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Sioux Falls, each agent will reflect the core values of trust, integrity, stability, and longevity.
