How my Passion For Real Estate Turned Into Real Life

During the summer of 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and at a time in which the real estate market was very hot, I joined my aunt Sherry as her real estate marketing assistant. At that time, I was going into my sophomore year of college at The University of Sioux Falls, and was looking for part-time work to earn a little extra money. What I didn’t know though was how much I’d enjoy marketing and being around the real estate business. So much so, two years have passed and I’m still working with Sherry and looking to make real estate a career for me!

From almost the very beginning of my first semester of my junior year, I started to realize the career and life path I was on wasn’t fulfilling me. I made the decision to not return to school second semester and instead start working full time and take time to decide what I really want to do with my life! Since I started working with Sherry two years ago, real estate and marketing had always been in the back of my mind, but I ignored those thoughts for what I thought I wanted. I thought getting my education and graduating with a degree in a field that I wasn’t passionate about was the answer. There is also an ugly stigma surrounding young adults, that if they aren’t in college or have dropped out of college, they won’t be successful and have “given up.” And that just isn’t the case. An individual’s path may look different compared to others, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have the same potential for success.

Fast forward, it is now 2022 and I am the happiest and most fulfilled I’ve been in the past two years, all because I made the decision to start a journey that would fulfill me and light a fire within me. While working at GreatLIFE, and working alongside Sherry at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, I’ve definitely stayed busy but I am ready for more! Sherry and the other brokers here at Berkshire are so helpful and knowledgeable that I 100% know I’m in the right place to start working on getting my real estate license! I am so excited for this new chapter of my life and to kick off my career in real estate soon!

I’ve been beginning to study different real estate books and taking in as much information as I can from Sherry and the other brokers in the office, that hopefully I will be prepared to take my course and my test in April!
