How to make Buying and Selling stress-free

Buying or selling a home can be equally challenging and rewarding. And in some cases, the buying of a new home and the selling of an old home simultaneously can be overwhelming, especially to get the timing right. While it may be easy for buyers to find their new home, it may be more difficult to get their current home sold.

Tyler and Lauren Miles started their buying and selling journey last fall, and closed on both homes in mid-December. They came to Sherry in October, hoping to find a new home in Hartford, South Dakota. When asked what the toughest challenges were during their buying and selling process, they said, “Being patient when trying to find the right house and not stressing about it. The right house will show. The same goes for selling.” It’s easy to rush the process in hopes of being in a new home sooner, but good things come to those who wait!

Once their previous home was sold, and they were settled in their new home, Lauren and Tyler wished they had done a few things differently. For one thing, they would “Spend more time focusing on what you think might be important to a buyer to ensure that something small doesn’t turn them off of the house.” Being diligent and eager to please, especially when both buying and selling at the same time, can make a huge difference in attracting prospective buyers.

After being in their new home for over 6 months now, they feel the best piece of advice they would give others in this situation, to ensure it is as stress/hassle-free as possible, is to ask questions. A lot of them. “Ask your Realtor any questions that pop into your head and share any concerns with them as soon as they come up,” said Tyler.

Buying and selling a home at the same time can bring anxiety, but if you find the right Realtor and consult with them often from beginning to end, the process can and will go smoothly.
